A doctor home visit lets the patient be assessed calmly at home, but its value depends on preparation. With the right information at hand, the doctor decides faster and more accurately, and you get answers to all your questions.

Document Why it matters
ID and insurance details Records and prescriptions
All medicine boxes or a current list Doses, interactions, unnecessary medicines
Test results from the last 6–12 months Tracking changes
Discharge summaries and reports Previous diagnoses and treatment
Imaging reports Comparison
Blood pressure, glucose, temperature logs Real home values
Allergy information Safe prescribing

A good medicine list

For each medicine: name and dose, how often and when, with or without food, who prescribed it and when, and why. Include vitamins, herbal products, drops, sprays, creams and eye drops.

Note the symptoms

When did it start? Constant or intermittent? What makes it better or worse? Changes in eating, sleep, urine or bowels? Recent falls, weight loss or fever? Changes in behaviour or memory?

Questions to ask

Diagnosis: What is the likely cause? Are more tests needed, and can they be done at home? Which signs mean we should go to the emergency department?

Medicines: Why this new medicine and for how long? Which side effects should we report? Can any medicine be stopped or reduced? When and how should each be taken?

Care: What should we watch for with nutrition, movement and positioning? Is a nurse, physiotherapist or dietitian needed? When is the next check?

Preparing the room

Clear space around the bed or chair, keep the room bright and warm, dress the patient in easy-to-open clothing, have the family member who communicates best present, and move pets to another room.

Afterwards

Get recommendations in writing or take notes, update the medicine list immediately, put planned tests in the calendar and share emergency signs with the family.

We arrange specialist home visits across Yalova, guiding families before the visit and continuing with tests, nursing and physiotherapy afterwards, with appointments in Bursa, Istanbul and Kocaeli–Gebze.

Frequently asked questions

Is a list enough instead of boxes?
A complete list is enough, but showing uncertain boxes prevents mistakes.
How do we remember the advice?
Take notes or ask for a written summary.
