Lip Filler: Planning, Procedure and Aftercare for Natural Volume, Contour and Hydration

How lip filler is planned: proportions for natural volume and contour, day-one swelling, healing, longevity, cold sore history and precautions.

Lip Filler: Planning, Procedure and Aftercare for Natural Volume, Contour and Hydration

Lip filler uses hyaluronic acid for volume, contour and hydration. Success means lips that look natural and in harmony with the face, not "done".

Aim Description
Volume Fuller thin lips
Contour Defined borders
Symmetry Balance both sides
Hydration Support dry, lined lips
Ageing Support thinning lips and downturned corners

Proportions: a slightly fuller lower lip often looks natural; width should suit nose and face; preserve the Cupid's bow and peaks; in profile lips should balance nose and chin.

Proportions are guides, not rigid rules.

Process: consultation (reference photos help), numbing (many products contain anaesthetic), needle or cannula injection, symmetry check; about 20–30 minutes.

Day Expect
1 Marked swelling, tenderness, possible bruises
2–3 Peak swelling; lips may look bigger
4–7 Swelling eases
Week 2 Settled; good time for follow-up

Early appearance isn't the final result.

Aftercare: no makeup or lipstick for 24 hours; brief cold compresses in a clean cloth; avoid very hot food and drink on day one; limit straws and puckering; no intense exercise, sauna or hammam for 24–48 hours; don't bite or press lips.

Cold sores: lip treatments can trigger herpes in those with a history; mention it; preventive treatment may be advised; no treatment during an active sore.

Duration: usually 6–12 months because lips move constantly; repeat treatments may need less product.

Not for: pregnancy and breastfeeding; active lip infection or cold sores; allergy; bleeding disorders (assessment); unrealistic expectations.

At our Istanbul clinic lip filler is planned by a doctor for a natural, proportionate look with a two-week check; clients from Yalova, Bursa, Kocaeli and Gebze should book at least 2 weeks before special events.
