Mesotherapy Before and After a Hair Transplant: Preparing the Scalp and Supporting Recovery
When hair mesotherapy is done before and after a transplant, why it's planned, how it helps protect existing hair and how to time it.
A transplant moves permanent follicles, but the health of existing hair around it is part of the long-term result; mesotherapy can play a supportive role.
| Aim | Description |
|---|---|
| Prepare the scalp | Healthier scalp before surgery |
| Support existing hair | Help protect thinning, non-transplanted hair |
| Support shock loss | Aid recovery from temporary shedding |
| Support new hair quality | Scalp health during growth |
Transplanted follicles come from a resistant zone, but existing hair may keep thinning genetically.
Before: a short course starting weeks before; aims at scalp hydration and texture; whether to inject close to surgery is the surgeon's call.
| Timing (general) | Note |
|---|---|
| 4–8 weeks before | Short preparation course |
| Last 1–2 weeks | Usually no injections; surgeon decides |
After: no injections until healing is complete.
| Period | Approach (general) |
|---|---|
| First 10–14 days | Healing; no injections |
| After month 1 | Support sessions if approved |
| Months 2–4 (shock loss) | Support recovery |
| Months 4–12 | Support new growth |
Timing depends on technique, healing and the doctor's assessment.
Shock loss in months 2–4 is usually normal and temporary; mesotherapy may support the scalp then.

At home: follow washing and care instructions; protect from sun and knocks; avoid smoking and alcohol; eat enough protein; apply nothing to the scalp without advice.
At our Istanbul clinic mesotherapy and PRP are timed to the transplant schedule; clients from Yalova, Bursa, Kocaeli and Gebze can combine support sessions with check-ups.
