Preparing for a Beard Transplant: Medicines, Shaving, Skin Care and Surgery Day
Should you shave before a beard transplant, which medicines and supplements to stop and how to prepare your skin: a practical checklist for surgery day and after.
Good preparation makes surgery day more comfortable and recovery smoother. Besides steps similar to hair transplants, the face has some specific points. Your doctor's instructions come first; never stop medicines without asking.

Should you shave?
Existing beard length affects how the transplant is done: sometimes it is trimmed, sometimes kept and grafts placed in between. Ask your clinic before shaving completely, as seeing direction and density helps design.
One week before: avoid alcohol and sunburn, don't try new skincare products, and plan work and social life for the first days.
2–3 days before: cut caffeine, prepare button-up clothes, plan soft lukewarm foods and buy straws for moustache work.
Morning of surgery: light breakfast, wash the face normally without creams, lotions or perfume, wear comfortable clothes and bring your medicine list.
