Preparing for an Eyebrow Transplant: Stop Plucking, Medicines and Surgery Day

Should you pluck before a brow transplant, how long to wait after tinting or permanent make-up and which medicines to stop: a practical checklist for surgery day.

Preparing for an Eyebrow Transplant: Stop Plucking, Medicines and Surgery Day

Preparing well helps both accurate design and smooth healing; seeing your brows as they really are helps the doctor greatly. Your doctor's instructions come first; never stop medicines without asking.

Stop plucking

Avoid tweezing, waxing or threading for several weeks, ideally longer, so the doctor can see existing hairs, natural direction and true borders; existing hairs can anchor the design.

Treatment General advice
Tinting and henna Stop a few weeks before to see natural colour
Lamination and lifting Stop a few weeks before
Permanent make-up / microblading Skin must be fully healed; plan timing with the doctor
Peels, lasers, fillers near the brows Plan with the doctor
Botox near the eyes Discuss timing
Health Advice
Health information Disclose conditions, medicines and allergies
Blood thinners, some painkillers The doctor decides
Supplements Stop those increasing bleeding on advice
Smoking and alcohol Stop beforehand
Eye infection or allergy Postpone while active

Surgery day

  1. Wash your face normally; no make-up, cream or perfume.
  2. Eat a light breakfast.
  3. Wear glasses rather than contact lenses, in case of swelling.
  4. Wear comfortable clothes.
  5. Bring photos of brows you like.
  6. Bring your medicine list.
Item Why
Extra pillows Sleeping with the head raised
Clean soft towels Gentle drying
Sunglasses and a wide hat Sun protection when allowed
Recommended wash product Cleaning the brows

Visitors from Yalova, Bursa, Kocaeli or Gebze should plan transport for surgery day and any next-day check, and avoid driving on the first day.

At our Istanbul clinic, clients receive personalised preparation instructions, with the plucking break and timing of cosmetic treatments set together with the design plan.
