Having to cut or shave the hair puts many people off a transplant, especially those who want to keep their appearance for work or social life and women with long hair. Unshaven DHI solves this for suitable candidates.

What is it?

Grafts are placed between uncut existing hair in the recipient area with an implanter pen. For the donor:

Donor option Explanation
Partial strip shave A narrow strip is shaved and hidden by longer hair above
Several small shaved patches Spread extraction from small areas
Fully unshaven (long-hair) extraction No trimming; more time-consuming, for limited graft numbers

Suitable for

Limited areas such as the hairline, temples or small thinning zones; densification between existing hair; women with long hair; people wanting the change to go unnoticed; and fine-tuning after a previous transplant.

May not suit

High graft needs over large areas, recipient areas with almost no hair (little concealment benefit), and some very curly or dense hair that complicates placement.

Advantages

  1. Quick return to social life, as existing hair hides the area.
  2. Change goes largely unnoticed, helpful at work.
  3. Natural transition as native and transplanted hair grow together.
  4. Length preserved, especially comforting for women.
Consideration Explanation
Graft number Usually more limited per session
Duration Working between hairs takes more time and care
Native hair An experienced team avoids damaging it
Shock loss Temporary shedding of native hair possible
Care Washing long hair needs extra care

"Unshaven" does not mean no signs at all; mild redness and small scabs appear early but are largely hidden.

Aftercare

Wash gently so long hair does not stick to the area, avoid combing over grafts, use a hair dryer only cool and from a distance, and keep clips, bands and tight buns away from the area early on.

At our Istanbul clinic, unshaven DHI is performed by our experienced team for suitable candidates, with suitability and graft needs set at examination; we assess unshaven options at consultation for clients from Yalova, Bursa, Kocaeli and Gebze who want a quick return to social life.

Frequently asked questions

Is no hair cut at all?
Recipient hair is not cut; the donor often has a narrow hidden shaved strip, with fully unshaven extraction only in limited cases.
Will it be noticeable?
Existing hair largely hides it, though slight redness and scabs may be seen up close early on.
