Preparing for a PRP Session: Diet, Hydration, Medicines and a Day-of Checklist

What to eat before PRP, how much water to drink, which medicines and supplements to discuss and how to prepare your hair, plus a practical checklist.

Preparing for a PRP Session: Diet, Hydration, Medicines and a Day-of Checklist

Because PRP comes from your own blood, diet, hydration and medicines affect the blood draw and comfort.

One week before Advice
Medicines Share all with your specialist
Blood thinners Don't stop on your own; ask your doctor
NSAIDs Some advise avoiding ibuprofen/aspirin beforehand (with medical approval)
Supplements Disclose fish oil, ginkgo, high-dose vitamin E
Dye or chemical treatments Mention if recent
Smoking Reduce if possible

Day before: drink plenty of water, no alcohol, sleep well, wash your hair.

Do Don't
Eat a light, balanced meal Come on an empty stomach
Drink water Eat very fatty food
Wear comfortable, front-opening clothes Use gel, wax or spray
Bring your medicine list Overdo caffeine
Bring a hat if you like Cut or dye hair the same day

Fatty meals can make plasma look cloudy, so choose a light meal.

Why not fast? It raises the risk of dizziness and fainting during the blood draw.

Tell us beforehand if you have fever or infection, scalp wounds or spots, a new medicine, possible pregnancy, or a recent procedure; the session may be postponed.

Checklist: medicine list · light meal · water · clean, product-free hair · comfortable clothes · travel home planned · next session date.

At our Istanbul clinic written preparation instructions are sent before PRP; clients from Yalova, Bursa, Kocaeli and Gebze should eat lightly and hydrate, allowing for travel time.
