Eyebrow Transplant Growth Month by Month and Possible Risks: Realistic Expectations

When brow hairs grow after a transplant and what changes each month, plus possible risks such as shock loss, folliculitis, asymmetry and direction problems.

Eyebrow Transplant Growth Month by Month and Possible Risks: Realistic Expectations

Brow transplant results appear gradually over months. Knowing the timeline and possible risks helps set realistic expectations.

Period General look Notes
Days 0–7 Short hairs, small scabs Scabs fall within about a week
Weeks 2–8 Shock loss Some or most hairs shed; follicles alive
Months 2–3 Quiet phase Brows may look as before
Months 3–4 First growth Fine new hairs
Months 5–6 Clear change Fuller brows, defined shape
Months 7–12 Maturing Thicker hairs; final result

Permanence: scalp follicles moved to the brows are usually permanent, but need regular trimming; age-related changes may occur, and conditions such as alopecia areata can affect transplanted hair later.

Issue Description Management
Swelling Around the eyes early on Sleep upright; careful cold packs
Redness Days to weeks Sun protection, no products
Folliculitis Small bumps as hairs emerge Don't squeeze; see a doctor if widespread
Asymmetry Slight differences Mild differences are natural; correct marked ones later
Direction problems Some hairs grow off-direction Train with gel and brushing; rarely correction
Low survival Fewer hairs than expected Assess at 12 months; extra session if needed
Infection Pain, discharge, fever Contact the clinic promptly
Donor marks Tiny dots Usually hidden by hair

Reduce risk with an experienced team and good design, full disclosure of health and medicines, following aftercare, not scratching or picking scabs, and avoiding sun, pools, sauna and make-up early on.

Asymmetry: faces are naturally asymmetric, so slight brow differences are normal; for marked asymmetry, wait at least 12 months before a small correction.

A second session may be needed for rebuilding very sparse or absent brows, scar grafting or a wish for more density.

At our Istanbul clinic we plan check-ups at months 1, 3, 6 and 12 with photo comparison; clients from Yalova, Bursa, Kocaeli and Gebze can follow up remotely.
