Scalp Micropigmentation for Women: Creating Density at the Parting and Crown
How SMP is used for female thinning: effects with long hair, parting and crown, tone selection and combining with other treatments.
Female hair loss usually appears as diffuse thinning, especially at the parting and crown. For women with long hair this can affect confidence. SMP reduces scalp–hair contrast so hair looks fuller.
| Feature | Men (shaved look) | Women |
|---|---|---|
| Aim | Short follicle look | Reduce scalp visibility among long hair |
| Area | Often the whole scalp | Parting, crown, sparse areas |
| Dot density | High | Lower, more diffuse |
| Tone | Short-follicle tone | Softer, matched to hair and skin |
| Haircut | Short shave needed | Length preserved |
Suitable for female-pattern thinning at the parting and crown, those unsuitable for or avoiding transplants, extra density after a transplant, and scar or traction areas.
Before treatment
Female thinning may have underlying causes (iron deficiency, thyroid problems, hormonal change), so history, scalp examination, blood tests if needed and treatment of reversible causes come first. SMP improves appearance; it does not treat loss.
Process
Applied without cutting hair, by parting it; usually 2–3 sessions a few weeks apart, starting with the lightest tone and adjusting gradually.
| Treatment | Aim |
|---|---|
| PRP | Support existing follicles |
| Mesotherapy | Nourish the scalp |
| Medical treatment on advice | Slow loss |
| SMP | Visual density |
Care: follow washing and colouring instructions, wait before dyes and chemical treatments, protect the parting from sun, and consult your specialist before changing hair colour.
At our Istanbul clinic, SMP for women preserves length and matches hair colour, combined with PRP and mesotherapy if needed; clients from Yalova, Bursa, Kocaeli and Gebze can share photos of their parting and crown.
